In an interview at the event, CEO & CFO NOVOMATIC Lottery Solutions Jakob Rothwangl talked to Yogonet about the relevance of the World Lotteries Summit Buenos Aires for the firm, the NLS System presented as focus of NOVOMATIC’s booth and what he perceives as the industry’s opportunities and challenges.
hy have you decided to showcase at WLS Buenos Aires, and what does it mean for you as a company?
NOVOMATIC Lottery Solutions (NLS) is a premium supplier of lottery solutions to state authorised lotteries, Platinum Contributor to the World Lottery Association and there is no bigger stage to showcase our products than the biannual World Lotteries Summit. This event allows us to present our latest products to prospective lotteries and at the same time show our support and commitment to the international lottery community.
What did you show and highlight at your booth? What criteria and priorities did apply in order to planify your expo there?
The focus of our booth was the NLS System, our latest lottery system that leverages the best of today’s technology to bring flexibility and operational excellence to lotteries and great experiences to players. It is a natively Omni-channel, lottery grade, gaming system, capable of fulfilling the requirements of regulated lotteries. Our product display also included sports betting terminals with both NovoPrime and Kambi solutions, the Absolute Vision video content system, as well as our VNet VLT system, to name a few.

Could you share your final assessment, in terms of feedback, networking, new learnings, visitors?
We are very pleased with our presence at the WLS 2018 in Buenos Aires. The event was well attended and very good for networking. We had meaningful engagements with progressive lotteries who are seeking to modernise their systems. During the official conference program, a series of excellent keynote addresses helped highlight how changes in demographics and technology will continue to affect the industry moving forward. There was also a focus on the unfair competition posed by synthetic lotteries and threats they bring to the industry. All of the changes and threats that we see affecting the industry further highlight the need for a truly modern system that is agile and able to adapt to change and respond to threats quickly.

How could you describe your current presence and relationships with lotteries in Argentina, and what is your perspective and expectations for future?
We have excellent relationships through NOVOMATIC Argentina and Octavian with La Lotería Nacional in Argentina as they are regulators of all gaming-related operations in many states. Our expectations for the future are extremely positive moving forward for online, sports and VLT licenses.
Could you identify any new trends or demands from operators, players and regulators? How do you approach them and tailor your products to Argentinian market?
The trend in lottery is clear – lotteries need to modernise so that they are better able to respond to the rapidly changing demands of customers as well as the emergence of new threats in the business environment. Lotteries must provide players with easy access to their products through all channels and continue to innovate to bring new games to the market. The NLS System enables lotteries to do just that and our commitment to developing original content and partnering with the world’s best content providers means players can enjoy a steady stream of new content.
