GVC Holdings have announced early the appointment of Barry Gibson as Chairman of the gambling giant whose brands include Ladbrokes and Gala Coral.
The announcement as the replacement of Lee Feldman is hoped will to reassure shareholders that the company is moving in the right direction. Mr Gobson is a former director of William Hill along with being a former executive of brands such as BAA, the airports group, and Littlewoods. He has also been non-executive of National Express and Somerfield.
In the gaming business he has sat on the boards of bwin.party, Playtech along with William Hill.
Mr Feldman has served as chairman since 2008 and following revised guideline under corporate governance rules no chairman is deemed independent after 9 years, hence the search for a new chairman. But not only that but shareholders fear that current chief executive Kenny Alexander has too much power under the current board and chairman of Feldman and wanted to more powerful experienced man as the chair.
